Disekt's Biography
How did it all start for Disekt? The late 90's I was introduced to underground hip-hop and fell in love with it. 2004 I attended an event called Electric Dasiy Carnival to see some huge names in the underground hip hop scene. There was 5 rooms of music each with different genres of electronic music and hip hop stage.
Planet Asia, Living Legends, Swollen Members and Visonaries some big names where on the line up for hip-hop and it was one of my favorite shows still to this day.Electronic music was really new to me at the time it was just a sound I had not grown accustomed to yet. As I was walking around I noticed a stage with MC's on it, with bass bumping out the speakers and plenty of people dancing the night away. I was amazed how the MC's where guiding me threw the heavy music that was hitting my ear drums with force. I found out I was at the Drum n bass stage watching Diselboy having more fun then I have ever had in my life and stayed there for the rest of the night. Mampi Swift came on next and my love for DnB grew even more. When the show was over I had a new passion for Drum n bass and Electronic music from that point on Drum n Bass became a way of life for me.
What made you become an MC?
I always had a passion for poetry and rhyming. Friends and I would always kick back and rhyme when we had nothing to do. After awhile I was getting better and better with rhyming on any type of music. It then became a tool of therapy for me and when I really started to spill my heart out, threw lyrics, I would gain attention form my family and friends. I have always been a quit humble person The fact that people would actually stop what there doing to listen to me was the best feeling I have ever had. Mcing on drum n bass only made me feel even stronger on becoming an mc. The power Drum n bass has on me shows even more when im rhyming to it. Still today being an mc means so much to me and I want to spread the love I have for it. I feel this is the best way for me to spread the culture of electronic music and thats why im an mc.
When did you first find out you had a passion for your music?
My passion for electronic music started when I first saw it live. The power Eletronic music has on people when they hear it is something you cant find in a lot of music. When I witness a dj moving to his music then look around and everyone is doing the same type of movements I felt something I never felt before,UNITY. Dnb and Dubstep will always make me feel happy no matter how down I am, this has grown on me and still stays with me today. Just like the first mc's I listed to did to me, I have a passion on opening new minds threw beats with words and keeping the electronic music culture alive..
How long have you been performing?
My first performance was in San Diego for one of my good friends Birthday. Gumb's Block Head Bash March 18,2008. From there its was a snowball effect of performances, most of my first shows where in la at underground party's. I was not 21 ye t finding shows was a hard thing at the time but I was still able to find djs that where willing to let me go on stage with them and preform. Some good friends of mine and I started a radio show in 2009 called “Wild out Radio” This was huge for me my skills as an mc started to spread as it did for all of us. “Wild out Radio” open eyes to our skills but it also open our eyes to greater things we could do for the music. We all sat down one day and realized trowing a radio show was just the start. We all wanted something better for San Diego and our music. An idea became we wanted to trow live shows that where still free to the people like our radio show. Organized Grime was started and my music career has never been as exciting as it is today. Organized Grime open my skills to even more people and have been receiving more bookings for local shows.
Who are some of you most influential artists in your life?

I have been influenced by a lot of artist but when I think of dnb the first dj/producers that come to mind are Dillinger, Dieslboy, Tc, Mampi Sift, Camo n Crooked, and Chase n Status. They where some of the first influences that progressed me to love dnb. Some mc's that still inspire me today are Dynomite, Foxy,GQ, TALI. Locally, Apx-1, Crs and the whole ghetto life crew Mc's Dino , Questionmark and mcmc where the first mcs to open my eyes to dnb giving me the passion to do the same. In San Diego some of my favorite Dnb djs/mc's influences are DJ Ronnie and Mc Ridda Mk Ultra, Reactivity and Tryxx. Dubstep has been a new world for me Organized Grime open my eyes for that sound. High Raken, Rusko, Bear, Ichy Robot some big players in Dubstep for me right now. Locally sounds of OSAL8, Indentation, Headshake all influence me when it comes to good san diego dubstep. There is still many artist out there and everyday it seems I find a new artist which is one of the best aspects of dnb/dubstep. Im always finding more artist that influence me and some way. .
Who was an influence in your career that you have had an opportunity to preform with?
I have to say the biggest blessing I have right now in my music career is still to be working and preforming in live shows with Dj Tryxx. Tryxx and Mc Disekt kind of go hand to hand for me, he has always influenced me to preform at my best and helped me hone in my skills. Some of my best performance can be found with him. Organized Grime gave me an opportunity to preform with a lot of talent which I am very thank full for. Preforming on sets with djs /mcs I grew up listing to like Apx one, Destro, Danny Thunders, Mc Blitz has been huge for me and collaborating with them is something ill never forget. Preforming with Mc Ridda and Dj Ronnie was a huge highlight for me cant even explain the feeling I felt when they asked me to preform with them at Organized Grime really blessed for that opportunity. Also Indentation is a well known dj who I love to preform with always kills it. Its just been a pleasure to have the opportunity to Mc for all the djs that have came threw og. I thank all of you guys and thank you for all that you do. Keep it growing selectas make the scene grow! !
